Terms & Conditions

 

1.      I am a fully qualified Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executive with a current practicing certificate which is available for inspection, I undergo continual professional development training in order to retain that certificate.

2.      Hourly rates will be charged at 50% of Legal Services Commission “B” rate for Crown Court matters, B rate can be charged against the fund due to my experience and qualifications.  County Court matters will be charged at 50% of LSC County Court rates.  Private client matters will be charged at a rate, which can be negotiated.  VAT will NOT be charged on invoices raised.  Please see schedule of charges.

3.      Mileage and parking will be charged , if allowable. £0.45 per mile will be charged in line with LSC rates but will not exceed that claimable against the fund, ie the distance from the solicitors office to the court centre, prison, etc. I am able to act as a “local agent” if the LSC stipulates that one should be used at certain courts, please contact me for further details. It will be the instructing solicitors responsibility to arrange prison visits or appointments with witnesses on my behalf.

4.      The instructing solicitors will be informed of outcome of a hearing as soon as practicable after the conclusion of that hearing, by telephone and emailed attendance note.  I will attend Court an hour before any scheduled hearing unless asked to attend at an earlier time.

5.      Matters will be billed separately for each attendance for single hearings.  Trials concluding within 5 days will be billed at its conclusion, those lasting longer than 5 days will be billed on a weekly basis.  Payment is required within 14 days of invoice, prompt payment would be appreciated.

6.      Please could case papers be provided prior to any hearing or attendance, if practicable.  Reasonable preparation to familiarize myself with the case will be charged for their perusal.  Collection of bulky papers would be possible, by prior arrangement.

7.      Any complaints should be made in writing within 7 days of the complaint arising and will be responded to in writing within 7 days of receipt of that complaint.
